Science Odyssey

Join the Adventure

From May 6-22, 2023, Future Energy Systems encourages you to join the adventure with thousands of other kids and families and dive into the Science Odyssey.

Science Odyssey is Canada’s biggest festival of science and technology. With over 1000 activities for explorers of all ages, it's easy and fun to craft your own odyssey and explore which areas of science and tech are most exciting to you.

Supported by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), Science Odyssey is a national campaign that celebrates Canadian achievements in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. Every year in May, hundreds of science outreach leaders deliver fun, engaging and inspiring activities to Canadians of all ages.

This year, for the second year, join Future Energy Systems to discover the world of energy. There's so much to explore!

Science Rendezvous

On 7 May, 2022 as our contribution to the Science Rendezvous, Future Energy Systems (FES) and TELUS World of Science Edmonton (TWOSE) invite you to take part in "Charge Up for an Energy Adventure!", at TELUS World of Science Edmonton.

On this special day, FES and TWOSE will contribute to the nationwide Science Rendezvous programming, joining with hundreds of partners across the country in offering a special day full of events and experiences. Through this exciting event, you can take part in seven special activities crafted by FES researchers and TWOSE staff to investigate and learn about energy systems.

Our Science Rendezvous Program

Explore Your Energy Future

Energy. Climate change. The economy and environment. The future. All topics of concern, and all topics that Future Energy Systems (FES) is addressing through research, innovation, and teaching. Focused on helping Canada transition to a low net-carbon energy economy, FES is a research program at the University of Alberta with over 100 projects and over 900 researchers.

Now it is your turn to explore energy through a series of experiments you can try yourself, opportunities to test your knowledge and the chance to meet some of FES’s researchers and explore their work.

FES is joined in this year's Science Rendezvous by TELUS World of Science Edmonton.

Science Rendezvous is on 7 May, beginning at 7:00 MST (9:00 EST) and running until 21:59 MST (23:59 EST). Our content will remain available for the rest of the duration of Science Odyssey, but will no longer actively be part of the Rendezvous. Don't miss your chance to join - mark your calendars for 7 May, 2022!
