Rana, Md Masud

Bio

Md Masud Rana completed his undergraduate degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), Bangladesh with distinction. Later he received MSc degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), Bangladesh with excellence. Masud performed his MSc thesis on “Exciton localization dynamics of perovskite materials employing Monte Carlo computational approach”. Prior to joining the University of Alberta, he joined Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST), Bangladesh as a lecturer where he used to teach Electrical Engineering Materials, Solid State Physics and Devices, VLSI Design and Technology courses. Masud joined Dr. Shankar’s research group to pursue a PhD degree in May 2021. Currently he is working on bismuth oxyhalide nanomaterials and their heterostructures for generating solar fuels through photocatalytic and photoelectrocatalytic reactions such as water splitting and CO2 photoreduction. He is a recipient of the University of Alberta Doctoral Recruitment Scholarship and the Gerald J. Maier/NOVA Chemicals Corporation Graduate Recruitment Award.
