May Outreach Highlights
Posted on
Spring is in full swing, and our outreach team has been busy as bees! In May, we visited 39 classes from 19 unique schools, reaching over 1,000 students in the Edmonton area. That’s an average of 9.07 visits per week – beating April for our highest average yet! We also hosted our Energy Adventure (link to SR article) at TELUS World of Science - Edmonton, and premiered 4 new videos on our YouTube channel, reaching an additional 1,327 members of the public.
With 15 visits, our most popular program was Become an Earth Doctor, where students learn how scientists heal the Earth through land reclamation. Not far behind with 9 visits was our new trial Micro:bit program, where students learn about coding – an increasingly relevant, multidisciplinary skill in our modern world.
In the month ahead we’ll be travelling to Red Deer for a day of science demos, hosting special new programs focused on literacy and outdoor education, and continuing our usual classroom visits around the city. We’ll also be welcoming our newest crop of Energy Explorers (link to EE article)!
See you at the start of summer for another outreach report.
